Ontario resumes issuing Notice of Interest

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) will resume issuing Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to applicants who qualify for Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Stream the week of April 10-14, 2017.

 Applicants who score 400 or more in the CRS and meet the Human Capital Priority Stream criteria will be sent the Notification of Interest. This would give them additional 600 points in the CRS.

 Given below is the list of high demand skilled trades identified by the province. All of them are in the construction trade: 
  • Carpenters
  • Electricians (except industrial and power system)
  • Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics
  • Welders
  • Painters and decorators (except interior decorators)
  • Plumbers 
  • Bricklayers
  • Roofers and shinglers
  • Sheet metal workers
  • Tilesetters
  • Boilermakers
  • Plasterers, drywall installers and finishers and lathers
  • Industrial electricians

Types of Work Permits

Most people need a work permit to work in Canada. There are two types of work permits in Canada: open work permits and employer-specific work permits.      1. Open Work Permits:  An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada, except for an employer: who is listed as ineligible on the list of employers who have failed to comply with the conditions, or who, on a regular basis, offers striptease, erotic dance, escort services or erotic massages.
